41Today: First 48 Charity Weekend

MACON, Georgia (WMGT/41NBC) – Organizers and the family of NFL football player Bud Depree are gearing up for the fourth annual First 48 Charity Weekend.

The weekend includes an alumni basketball game, a comedy show and an ATV/dirtbike ride out.

Bud Dupree started his First 48 Charity Weekend in his hometown of Wilkinson County, with the help of Bria Smith and TaKarah DuPree. As the event continued to grow, it moved to Macon.

Bria Smith says the mission of the First 48 Charity Weekend has always been to alleviate families of financial burdens when a child is facing medical issues. Smith says the proceeds raised go to local children in the hospital.

Smith says the weekend events will also give the community a chance to come out and connect with Bud on a more personal level than the football field.
