‘Able 2’ pays tribute to Macon’s musical history

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Douglass Theatre will host a concert to honor Macon’s musical history this weekend.

Able 2 is a local organization that promotes musical history and culture.

The concert benefits Able 2–giving it the ability to help others learn more about music.

Clayton and the other performers will pay tribute to Ella Fitzgerald and Natalie Cole

Performer Myrna Clayton, known as the International Songbird, sang a tune from the show for 41NBC.

Abel 2 recognizes that too many today are musically under served and don’t know much about America’s music history, especially African-American musical history.

Abel 2’s mission is to meet the needs of people with disability and under-served communities through Music and Art.

Therefore, in addition the tribute concert celebrating Ella Fitzgerald and Natalie Cole, Abel 2 seeks to “Mesmerize Macon” by highlighting Macon’s next generation of Jazz musicians, Douglass Theatre Youth Jazz Orchestra, as the opening act.
