Adam Ragan Named Guest of Honor for Charity Golf Tournament

MACON, Georgia (41 NBC/WMGT) – Adam Ragan, has been around NASCAR all of his life his family has three generations of race car drivers.

Adam is the older brother of championship NASCAR driver, David Ragan.

“I went to Daytona my favorite is the Sprint Cup Race,” says Adam Ragan.. “My Dad use to race in the Winston Cup Season, now he’s retired.”

Any given day you can find Adam working at the family business, David Ragan Ford Dealership in Perry. Adam and his father, Ken Ragan recently attended the Perry Business Expo, where he signed autographs and talked with fans.

Adam is scheduled to be the guest of honor at the “First Annual Chariot’s for Children Golf Tournament. It is scheduled to be held Sept. 20, at the Perry Golf Course. The cost is $50 which include, lunch, cart, and range balls. The event is sponsored by the Chariot’s for Children Foundation Inc.

“We’re really proud of Adam and David they’ve both done well and showed a lot of patience, especially with Adam having Down Syndrome and being a young kid,” says their father, Ken Ragan

The Ragans say they value family time. Their home is filled with NASCAR photos, trophies and awards. Despite having challenges Adam has won more than 20 medals competing in Special Olympics during the mid 90’s.

“When we brought Adam home from the hospital we really had no prior knowledge of the circumstances at all,” says his mother, Beverly Ragan. “It was on the third day actually, when we were coming home from the hospital that we actually learned there maybe something different.”

The Ragans have an old church steeple attached to their home. However things may not always be as peaceful as they appear, Beverly Ragan says her sons have always looked out for one another.

“Actually, David walked first and then Adam was quick to follow behind,” she added. “So they were good role models for each other, and that just worked-out. Now, at times it was real hair raising. But it really worked out for the best in the end.”

Adam is a big fan of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and the Georgia Bulldogs, along with other college and NFL teams.
