Annual ‘Ocmulgee Alive!’ prepares for volunteer to clean environment

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – This year, volunteers are invited to join members of the Macon Water Authority (MWA) for the 11th Annual ‘Ocmulgee Alive!’

Volunteers with serve at several parks and locations around the city to pick-up trash and debris. 

According to a release, Ocmulgee Alive! is one of the largest river cleanups in the state and is organized by the MWA in cooperation with NewTown Macon and Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful.

In 2013, the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) honored the MWA with the industry award for the state’s Best Public Education Program Event for its role in Ocmulgee Alive!

The event will be held this Saturday, October 10 at 8:30 a.m. For those who do not have a preassigned location, meet at Amerson River Park at 8:15 a.m.
