Best for Babes: Stroll for human milk

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Best for Babes is gearing up for it’s second annual Miracle Milk Stroll, an awareness movement to help educate parents about the importance of infants consuming human milk.

This Mother’s Day, thousands around the nation and in Canada will gather in public areas to walk for a cause hoping to raise funds and awareness about necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).

According to a release, NEC is an excruciating bowel inflammation that can require multiple surgeries to remove dead tissue, may result in organ failure, months-long neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) stays, and can cost between $200,000 to over $1,000,000 to treat.

They’re goal is to raise enough money to save 500 premature infants form the disease.
