Breast Cancer Awareness: Mammograms, genetics testing events hosted throughout October

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – For Breast Cancer Awareness month, Breast Care Center Navicent Health plans to host several events. 

Genetic counselor Darcy Berry, and nurse Jill Hancock talk about the importance of genetic testing and mammograms. 

According to the American Cancer Society recommend women ages 40 and older start to get mammograms. 

Hancock adds depending on genetics it may be recommended you get checked at an earlier age.

Berry also invites the public to attend a free ‘Genetic Presentation.’ The event will be held Friday, October 23 at the Macon Marriott Grand Salon Room from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Lunch will be included.
