Cannonball House remembers Macon’s history during Civil War

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The anniversary of the firing on Macon during the Civil War is this month. The Cannonball House is remembering the city’s history this weekend. Wayne Dobson stopped by 41 Today to tell us more.

Dobson said on July 30th, 1864, Union General Georgia Stoneman’s troops fired artillery shells into the city of Macon. It hit several homes including the home of Judge Asa Holt, which is now known as the Cannonball House.

The Cannonball House is recreating the destruction that happened in the Holt home on Saturday, July 19. There will be brief skits at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Admission is $6 per person, $5 for seniors, and $3 for children. Kids under five can get in for free. The admission also includes a tour of the home.
