Donate your old shoes to Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Got any old pairs of shoes that you don’t know what to do with? Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia can take them off your hands! Katie Bachman and Haley Oliver from Troop #60242 and Suzannah Johnson and Madison Fastiggi from Troop #60227 stopped by 41 Today to tell us how you can help make the world a greener place.
GSHG and ShoeBox Recycling are working together during the Scouting for Shoes program. Girl Scouts throughout the Peach State are trying to keep shoes out of landfills.
The program started back in January and since then, GSHG has collected more than 3,214 pounds of shoes.
To participate, all you have to do is collect gently used, re-wearable shoes and bring them to one of Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia’s eight service centers and drop them in the ShoeBox. The Macon Service Center is located at 6869 Columbus Road in Lizella. You can also drop off shoes at the Peach County #6 Fire Station.
The recycled shoes will provide affordable shoes to those in need and it will also create a cleaner, greener planet by keeping them out of landfills.
GSHG is accepted all paired men’s, women’s, and kid’s shoes that are still usable.
