Families invited to participate in ‘Butterfly Bio Blitz’

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Ocmulgee National Monument is hosting its third annual ‘Butterfly Bio Blitz.’

Families are welcome to count butterflies, participate in children’s activities like, painting a butterfly sun catcher or a ceramic jewelry box, and toddler’s story time.

Park Ranger Angela Bates says participants are encouraged to bring their own cameras, binoculars and field guides to explore the different species of butterflies.

Bates also request families wear long pants and closed-toed shoes, sun protection, bug spray, water and snacks. 

The event is schedule for Saturday, August 22 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Ocmulegee National Monument, located on 1207 Emery Highway in Macon.
