Fire Safety Advice to Keep Warm During Chilly Temperatures

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Cold temperatures are making its way into Middle Georgia. Lt. Demeterius Ellison from the Macon-Bibb Fire Department stopped by 41 Today to share some safety advice for when it comes to staying warm.

Ellison stressed the importance of using space heaters correctly. He suggests users should plug them into the outlet directly and not use a drop cable. Also, make sure the outlet is capable of handling the power usage.

Ellison adds you should check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. He says house fires are all too common during the cold days and says these devices can save your life.
