Fundraiser for little girl with rare brain disease

MACON, Georgia (WMGT/41NBC) – According to the Mayo Clinic, Moyamoya disease is a rare, progressive blood vessel (vascular) disorder where the carotid artery in the skull becomes blocked or narrowed, reducing blood flow to the brain. It’s a disease that 8 year old Allie Itson, of Bleckley County, has and has had two brain surgeries because of it.

Medical bills and surgeries are expensive, so the Dairy Queen in Cochran wanted to help Allie and her family with that. Saturday, February 1st, the fast food chain is hosting a fundraiser for Allie. She’ll get to be manager for a day and a portion of the sales from that day will go to Allie’s family.

There will be face painting and costumed characters at the fundraiser. It’s at the Dairy Queen at 606 North Second Street in Cochran starting at 10:30 a.m.
