Keeping Organized: Magnetic Photo Albums
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It used to be a staple of anyone’s home: the photo album. Yet, not every photo album is a safe place for your photos. Personal organizer Andi Willis shows us what you can do to keep your memories in their best condition possible.
As the albums age, photographs inside have a tendency to discolor as older ones are not considered “photo safe” like more modern albums. Because of this, it’s important to remove your pictures from these older versions and into newer ones, or even just into photo boxes.
Once you pull your photos out, some of them can be rather sticky on the back. A rubber cement pick-up tool, which can be found at any arts & crafts store, can be used to remove the residue.
Now for the ones that are really stuck on the page after years of being stored, Andi suggests wax dental floss. By working the floss from one corner to the next, you can loosen the picture without accidentally destroying it.
If you have similar albums that are being used as more of a scrapbook, scanning those digitally can keep those particular memories intact.
