Man travels cross country to raise awareness for America’s ‘Inactivity Pandemic’

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One man decided to put his wheels to the test to benefit America’s youth.

Doug Gordon, a sports industry executive from Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, is taking a bicycle ride across the U.S. to raise awareness and money for PHIT America.

The nonprofit organization campaigns to help in three key areas: education, school-based activity programs and advocating for a more healthy, fit and active youth.

According to Gordon, more than 83 million Americans are part of the nation’s “inactivity pandemic.”

Gordon travels with his wife Shari, and dog, Chase. He left from Charleston, South Carolina and will stop in San Diego, California.
