Mercer University hosting free screening of documentary film “Race to Nowhere”

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Mercer University’s Tift College of Education is hosting its inaugural fall forum on education. Dr. Joseph Jones and Dr. Sharon Augustine stopped by 41 Today to tell us about the screening of the documentary film, “Race to Nowhere.”

This is a free event open to the public. There will also be a panel discussion and reception following the screening.

The documentary calls on viewers to challenge current thinking about how we prepare children for success. It features interview with educators, parents, and education experts.

Race to Nowhere” has been shown across the world at more than 6,000 schools, universities, movie theaters, hospitals, corporations, and community centers. It has become the centerpiece of a nationwide grassroots movement for the transformation of education.

The screening is Saturday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Medical School Auditorium on the Macon campus.
