MGSU talks about Money Smart Week

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Financial Literacy Month continues on 41Today, as a representative of Middle Georgia State University stops by the studio to talk about the school’s Money Smart Week.

Rachel Byrd, a financial advisor at MGSU, says the goal of Money Smart Week is to promote financial literacy throughout the community and provide a series of educational sessions for anyone who would like to attend.

“They will be learning, basically, how to manage their money,” says Byrd, describing the curriculum of the sessions.

She says it’s important for college students to learn how to save money while they’re in school, and instilling good habits now in order to better prepare them for life after graduating.

Money Smart Week is an annual event held at the campus. Sessions are free and are open to the general public as well as students.

For more information on how you can attend those sessions, you can head over to Middle Georgia State University’s website by clicking this link.
