North Central Health District talks about importance of immunizations
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Students across Middle Georgia are either in school or are getting ready to start the new year. In addition to books, pencils, and paper, your student may also need to get immunization shots. Judy McChargue from the North Central Health District stopped by 41 Today to tell us more.
McChargue says it is important for everyone to stay updated on their immunization shots, including children and adults.
McChargue also talked about a new state requirement that says all students born on or after January 1, 2002 or transferring into the 7th grade will need proof of a whooping cough booster shot and a meningococcal shot, unless the child has an exemption.
Adults who are around children and pregnant women should also get a whooping cough booster shot.
McChargue said you can get these shots at your local health department or at your health provider.
She also said it is important to get your immunizations not only to protect yourself, but to also keep the people around you health.
