Prepare for Spring by Pest Proofing Your Home

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Spring is here and with it comes warmer weather and bugs! Heath Bass from Arrow Exterminators stopped by 41 Today to share some tips on how to pest proof your home.

Pest proofing can go a long way to help avoid an infestation of unwanted guests. According to Arrow Exterminators, you can take a room-by-room approach to prevent pest problems.

In your kitchen, experts suggest you store all of your food in airtight plastic or glass containers, immediately wipe spills, and empty the trash frequently. In your bedroom and bathroom, Arrow Exterminators says you run fans or dehumidifiers to prevent damp conditions and make sure all your pipes are sealed.

If you have a pet, make sure it is groomed and is up to date on its flea and tick prevention. Also, keep living areas crumb free and vacuum regularly.

Experts also suggest you seal all cracks and small openings around your home.

Bass says the pest population is expected to increase during the spring and if you take these steps, you can protect your home.
