Strong to Severe Storms Heading Towards Middle Georgia
MACON, Georgia. (41NBC/WMGT) – A cold front that is rapidly marching across the southeast will make its way into Middle Georgia early this afternoon.
A cold front that is associated with an area of low pressure will bring showers and potentially severe thunderstorms to Middle Georgia this afternoon. The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded several of the counties in our southwestern most viewing area into a Slight (2/5) risk of severe weather for this afternoon. Everyone else is in a Marginal (1/5) risk area.
The main threats will be:
- Damaging winds (60+ mph)
- Possible isolated spin-up tornadoes
- Locally heavy rainfall
Have a way to get severe weather warnings, whether that be by watching 41NBC News on TV, downloading the FREE 41AccuWeather app to your mobile devices or purchasing/turning on a NOAA Weather Radio.
Weekend looks mild and dry.
Once the cold front passes through Middle Georgia early Friday morning we will return to more seasonable temperatures for the weekend. I am not expecting any rain to fall until early next week.
