Soccer, music, and culture abound at Fort Valley State University
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Soccer, food, music, performances, raffles and a parade. Sound like a fun day? If so, you can find that this Saturday, August 30th, at Wildcast Stadium at Fort Valley State University. Its the inaugural International Cultural Festival & Soccer Exhibition. According to FVSU’s website, the festival includes:
- A mini festival parade along State University Drive, starting at 9:00 a.m.
- Opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
- Soccer matches from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Wildcat Stadium. The four teams are Rio Balsas, Futbol Club San Jose, Liberta and La Ruana, from Atlanta and Peach County.
- Festival with music, food and other vendors, raffles, goat milk ice cream give-away, and more from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Performers include: an Afro Cuban group called Orquesta Macuba, a Trinidadian steel band called PanSonics, Bahamian stilt dancers, and a Soca and Calypso musician named King Danskie.
Admission is $2, but FSVU students with a valid student ID and children 12 and under pay nothing for admission.
