“Stop the Gun Violence” returns to Macon in October

MACON, Georgia (WMGT/41NBC) – Next month, the “Stop the Gun Violence” kickoff returns, 10 years after the first one was held. It will be held on Saturday, October 12th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buck Melton Community Center in Macon.

The purpose of the event is to encourage all people, but especially young people who have guns to put them down and teach them that gun violence is not the way to go.

There will victims of gun violence speaking at the kickoff. The Bibb County Public Defender’s Office will be on hand to expunge records. Deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and staff from Medical Center Navicent Health will be there as well.

There’s also free food, music, free tee shirts and more.
