‘Totes 2 Tots’ expects to help over 500 middle Georgia foster children

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two organizations are teaming up to help hundreds of Georgia’s foster children.

According to a release, Georgia Cancer Specialists and Northside Hospital will be hosting the 13th annual ‘Totes 2 Tots’ suitcase drive as a way to support nearly 8,500 foster children across the state of Georgia.

The fundraiser pays tribute and "honors Dr. Martin Luther King’s commitment to the community."

Jennifer Pittard hopes the organization can top last year’s goal of supplying more than 500 foster children with suitcases, and book bags, giving at least 600 kids a tote in 2015.

Donations of new or gently used backpacks and suitcases will be accepted at 27 G.C.S. offices in Georgia on Friday, January 16 from 10:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m.
