“Totes 2 Tots” Suitcase Drive to Help Georgia’s Foster Children

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Thousands of kids across the Peach State are in the foster care system. When they move homes, they often don’t have a bag to carry their stuff. Dr. Cheryl Jones with Georgia Cancer Specialists stopped by 41 Today to tell us more on this year’s Totes 2 Tots suitcase drive.

Twenty-seven GCS offices across Georgia, including the offices in Middle Georgia, are collecting new or nearly new backpacks and kid-sized suitcases to give to foster kids in Georgia. This is the 12th suitcase drive and since 2003, GCS has collected and distributed more than 33,000 bags.

Dr. Jones says the goal this year is to collect 7,500 bags, one for every child in foster care.

The suitcase drive is on Friday, January 17th. You can drop off your bags at the nearest Georgia Cancer Specialists office between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
