Tubman Museum Features Exhibit by Middle Georgia Artist

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Middle Georgia native returns home with a very special art exhibit at the Tubman Museum. The museum’s Director of Exhibition, Jeff Bruce, stopped by 41 Today to tell us more about the artist and his work.

Ulysses Marshall is a native of Vienna but now works in Maryland. The Tubman Museum is showcasing his exhibit entitled “The Excavation of Lost Souls.” It will be on display until January 11th.

In a statement, Marshall said, “My art is about strength and courage associated with the journey from freedom into slavery. Our strength to survive, and the struggle to produce a rich culture of proud people is ever present in my being, my people and my art.”

A reception will be held on Friday, November 8th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the artist will be there to discuss his work.
